POLICE IN MALAGA last week found 20 under-eighteens drunk and in possession of a hunting rifle, it was announced yesterday.
Events began when one of the minors invited friends aged between 13 and 17 to the bar owned by his father to celebrate a birthday party. Once inside, they began to take advantage of the free alcohol on offer.
Around 02:00 a group of minors left the party and began shouting in the street outside. When police arrived, they found an alarming scene: 10 drunken youngsters were still inside, one of whom had an Anschutz .22 calibre rifle in his hands which he was pointing toward the others from the bar’s kitchen.
Although the rifle was unloaded, police are now pressing charges against the 56-year-old bar owner, to whom the rifle belongs, as it had been left unsecured in the establishment’s basement without any form of security measures being taken. The man was also unable to provide police with a rifle licence which led to the confiscation of the weapon.
One of the minors had to be taken to hospital with severe alcohol poisoning.
