Mrs Castillo is currently in Mojacar along with several other Andalucian Ministers who have gone to the area to ensure that everything possible is done to extinguish the fires.
650 firefighters and troops are currently fighting the fires, and INFOCA confirm that every air unit available in western Andalucia has been sent to the area, 17 in total.
Additional fire equipment, personnel and troops have been sent from the Region of Murcia, from Aguilas.
Mrs Castillo said that it was a "miracle" that Mojacar had survived. She refused to comment on reports that up to 50 homes were lost, although she said that the damage to property was “extensive”.
It is estimated that over 3,000 people were evacuated overnight.
The only injury reported was that of one person who suffered a broken arm after falling over.
It is reported that arson experts from Madrid have been sent to the area to examine reports that the fires were deliberate. INFOCA have confirmed that the fire had several different start points, which is why they spread so quickly. Local Spanish media organisations confirm that parts of the mountains have been sealed off by Guardia Civil agents until the arson experts arrive.
Areas of Mojacar are still evacuated and residents are not allowed to return.
The major fire in Abla (Eastern Almeria) has also been declared under control, although it is still ongoing.
