A woman known as the “Sahrawi Ghandi” is currently on hunger strike in Lanzarote airport.
Aminatou Haidar, a well-known campaigner for the rights of the Sahrawi people, travelled to New York last month to collect the Civil Courage Prize, awarded each year for “steadfast resistance to evil at great personal risk”.
However, on attempting to return to the Western Sahara four days ago, Moroccan authorities turned her back, forcing her to return to Lanzarote airport.
Ms Haidar said she now considers herself a “hostage” in Spain and has been on hunger strike for three days no. She said: “I am prepared to go on until I die.”

This woman who is far more worthy of the Nobel peace prize than the emperor Obama should not be in Lanzarote. She is there due to Spanish incompetence. Worse still, once more the corrupt anti-democratic Moroccan regime is demonstrating once again its total disregard for human rights or common decency. How much longer will the E.U. continue to dance to their tune?

The western sahara is a bit of empty land morocco took over a few years ago. Haidar is trying to attract attention to the plight of her people who are harsly suppressed by the islamic conquerors!

I came home from Lanzarote on Friday the 20th and she was still there with camera's (maybe the news?) she looked ill! paramedics escorted her by wheelchair to the toilet etc.
There are big posters telling of her plight and also a board to sign for support...there must be a reason why she can not rightfully get home and it will most likely be a visa, I see no reason for the hunger strike, she should of followed rules and regulations especially in this day and age!

If she doesn't recognize Morocco as her country and if she gave up her citizenship, she has no right to go back! unless she has a foreign passport and ask for a visa!
